Canberra Private Schools introduces Good Counsel College in Innisfail, for all your education and learning needs.
Faithful to the Mission of the Church, Good Counsel College educates students to develop attitudes, skills and knowledge to live as free and moral people in a complex world. Within our community we encourage, by word and example, sensitivity to diversity, the growth of spirituality, a sense of self worth and respect for others, and the striving to give of one's best.
Good Counsel College was formed in 1975 as a result of the merger of the girls' school (Sacred Heart) conducted by the Sisters of the Good Samaritan and the boys' school conducted by the Marist Brothers.
Initially the College was established as a Year 8 to Year 10 School, however under the guidance of Mr Peter Albion (the first lay principal) the school expanded to cater for the full academic education of students up to Year 12. Over recent years the College has flourished, and enrolments have almost trebled . The resultant expansion of facilities, resources and the extension to the curriculum now sees Good Counsel College as a thriving country high school with an enrolment of 535 students.
Welcome to Good Counsel College one of the popular educators in your Innisfail area. Our aim is help you in your learning journey.
We endeavour to celebrate each other's uniqueness by providing opportunity for all and to develop a culture that identifies that the journey towards excellence is often paved with trial and error, risk taking, learning from mistakes, flexibility and adaptability. We believe that encouraging students to take ownership of the learning is critical in achieving the best learning outcomes and that implicit in this concept is that students learn their own areas of strength and areas of development, through useful and explicit feedback.
