Canberra Private Schools introduces Northern School For Autism Preston Campus in Preston, for all your education and learning needs.

The Northern School for Autism is a Victorian State Government specialist school that exclusively addresses the educationalneeds of students with AutismSpectrumDisorders. Theschool was established in 2006 to meet the growing needs of students with ASD in the Northern Metropolitan Region. Students who attend the Northern School for Autism must meetthe eligibility criteria set down by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, under the Programs for Students with Disabilities, in the category of Autism Spectrum Disorders. Once eligibility has been established, student enrolment may proceed.

The Preston Campus, located close to Northland Shopping Centre, caters for approximately 100 students from 5 to 16 years of age.

Preston’s facilities consist of a variety of portable buildings. Class sizes are a maximum of 8 students per class with some flexibility to meet individual student needs. There are 12 classrooms currently at the Preston site.

Preston’s facilities include a 15 meter indoor heated swimming pool, where students access water safety and swimming programs in a safe and secure environment. There are 4 separate play areas for students to access during break times and specific teaching times. Junior students have access to a play therapy room for the development of imaginative play skills. There is also a multi purpose room which is used for individual and small groups accessing a sensory based program, school concerts and music sessions.
