The school caters for boys and girls from Kindergarten to Year 6 and has an enrolment of approximately 390 students.
Students attending the school come from a variety of backgrounds and nationalities. The different ethnic backgrounds which our students represent bring vitality to our proudly multicultural community.
The school employs 32 staff comprising 27 full-time and part-time teachers and 5 non-teaching staff, including teacher’s aides and general administrative support.
Mater Dei Catholic Primary School was founded by Fr Michael Kennedy in 1960. Lay teachers staffed the school when it was first opened and until 1964, when the Sisters of St Joseph took over the administration of the school. They maintained a presence in the school until 1979 when lay teachers again staffed the school.
The refurbishment of playground spaces to enable creative student play will be a whole-school priority for the next few years. This project has been actively supported by the parent community, both financially and also with their expertise and effort.
Before and after-school care is provided on site five days a week from 7.00am to 6.00pm.
Welcome to Mater Dei Catholic Primary School Blakehurst one of the popular educators in your Blakehurst area. Our aim is help you in your learning journey.
We endeavour to celebrate each other's uniqueness by providing opportunity for all and to develop a culture that identifies that the journey towards excellence is often paved with trial and error, risk taking, learning from mistakes, flexibility and adaptability. We believe that encouraging students to take ownership of the learning is critical in achieving the best learning outcomes and that implicit in this concept is that students learn their own areas of strength and areas of development, through useful and explicit feedback.
